Intro to Herbalism Series - Summer’s Balm: Wild REmedies & Ritual Waters

SUNDAY JULY 27, 11am-2pm

Summer’s Balm: Wild Remedies & Ritual Waters

Let’s meet peak summer’s heat through the eyes of herbal wonders. Join us for an afternoon of experiential herbalism at Long Branch. This class will bring a balance of Fire and Water, honoring the warmth and power of summer’s heat while offering some remedy and reprieve for many of the less comfortable elements that accompany midsummer. Anticipated plant allies include but are not limited to bee balm, jewelweed, yarrow, aloe, comfrey, poke, plantain, witch hazel… many more…

The first portion of class will be devoted to making and sharing recipes for a variety of topical herbal preparations with a special emphasis on summer first aid. These could include bug spray, salves, oils, poultices, hair washes and compresses. The second half of our day will present an opportunity to cool off with ritual washing in our fresh mountain spring waters. You can expect to leave feeling refreshed, lit up by the possibilities of the summer season, and with an herbal preparation in hand to help build out your own herbal first aid kit. Long Branch is a beautiful place to connect with the abundance of the natural world- let’s learn and play together!

Please bring a swimsuit if you’d like to jump in the spring-fed pond!
