Last year’s Lumberjack Party & Chili Cook-off as our post-Helene community gathering and workday event was such a big hit that we’re doing it again… and this time we want more flannel! Dorn your favorite lumberjack gear and bring your splitting axe, because this year we’ve got momentum!

Saturday afternoon, we’ll be splitting firewood all afternoon from fallen trees because of a wet summer and soft soil. We’ll teach folks log splitting skills and also be stacking firewood together for our beginners. By participating, you’ll also help residents and elders stock up on fire wood for the coming winter, since all buildings here are heated by wood.

After wood chopping, bring your family’s secret chili recipe for the chili cook-off. We’ll have a playful chili tasting competition and voting, then we’ll all enjoy the meal together fireside.

Donations are sliding scale and 100% of the proceeds go towards funding repairing our Community Building where we host educational classes and community gatherings.
